I am a full-time artist living and working on my farm near McGregor. 

My art tells my story [of transformation] – which is really the story of all of us. I strive to express myself with heartfelt directness rather than intellectual complexity.

I love working with oils as well as found materials. I have a number of longstanding themes which I keep exploring and expanding.

These works are done completely intuitively. I do not decide beforehand what the end result should look like. I rather let the work  guide me. It is a process of ‘allowing’ which demands a great deal of risk-taking and trusting. The process of each work is unique. It can start with a word or a phrase, or a stain on the canvas. An accident is NEVER an accident – it is always guidance.

These three-dimensional works are positioned in the peaceful garden which surrounds the gallery. They continue the themes found in the gallery. I love how they inspire visitors by demonstrating that one does not need expensive materials or a university degree to be creative.

Living on my farm I have experienced  firsthand the harmony that exists in a healthy, balanced natural environment. I have become increasingly aware of the vital role these small creatures play in maintaining this balance.  The Bug series is an ode to the much ‘doomed’ bugs.

They often resemble mandalas and refer to ancient spiritual symbolism. The Rose, Lily, Iris become carriers of deeper meaning. Often  it is simply more poetic to convey  qualities such as tenderness, luminosity or fragility through flowers.

This series of bird images was  initiated by the two orphaned  baby doves,  Alexander [the Great] and Schubird,   whom I had raised – a process that brought the gifts of vulnerability, compassion and liberation. As they were learning to fly, I was getting ready to spread my own wings -  stepping into my dream life of becoming a fulltime artist.

This series is created with natural and manmade materials – mostly ‘found’ things. I feel they are my purest expressions, uncontaminated by specialist techniques and materials.
