The African Queen Studio has successfully transformed natural waste (dried locally collected seedpods) into exquisite chandeliers. Enhanced with glass beads and crystals, these unique light fittings now grace homes, hotels and interiors worldwide. Lorraine and her team welcome you to visit them in their studio to see how these treasures are made. You can also view the exquisite hand painted clothing.

Growing up in Nieu-Bethesda Fabian spent a lot of time with Koos Malgas, resident sculptor at the well-known Owl House. Fabian was inspired by what he observed while assisting Koos as general helper. In 2005 Fabian came to McGregor to meet his biological family – and he never left. Since an early age he has sculpted with cement and glass, as well as woodcarving. He prefers to sculpt at night “because the dark brings peace and quiet”. It is therefore no surprise that his subject matter embraces that which appear in the dark, such as owls, stars and mermaids.

The  Gallery in the stately main house contains Jo Nowicki's collection of sketching journals and a selection of her drawings and paintings.  Karoo landscapes by the gifted “vagrant” known as Dudley van Zyl share the space. The Studio is where Jo teaches drawing. Her unique method brings confidence to beginners and banishes artist's block in the more experienced.

Wahnfried is a home in McGregor purchased by Michael and Freddie with the intention of it being used for the benefit of the Village, now and in the future.  The vision is that the house acts as a venue for cultural events - live music, recorded music, films and other ‘sympathetic’ activities which take place in our Village.  The Moroccan inspired house with its double volume ‘salon’ and excellent acoustics is furnished with an 1873 Bechstein grand piano, comfortable chairs and a quality film projector system which shows films in high definition and the latest surround sound. Musical events are held most Sundays and films are shown weekly throughout the year.
