This year, Antonio Arico together with Editamateria has decided to surprise the crowd at Milan Design Week. Quite different from what you’ll expect and what you are used to from this young designer born in Calabria. This exhibition is based on placing the artisan as the protagonist.

In collaboration with Massimo Lunardon, Antonio Arico has designed new glass pieces. More than just creating new products, Antonio wanted to tell a story. The history of the art of glass blowing that will be actually told by the object itself. It isn’t a project only related to the concept of aesthetics and functionality.

EDITAMATERIA creates collections of Italian materials, designed and manufactured with skill, in order to create a platform to export abroad.

Created in 2014 by Silvia Ariemma, Editamateria works on the relationship between creativity and the culture of know-how, and stems from the collaboration and interaction of the Italian designers and the skills of the excellence in artisanship where together designers and craftsmen shape their insights.  Editamateria begins its journey by giving voice to matter, understood as the foundation of all things but also the “mater” from which we all come, from which we have learned to see from our center in the Mediterranean the rest of the world, to whom we turn to tell and listen to the stories of “MADE In”, nurturing curiosity and research through continuous exchanges and comparisons.  A research that began with wood, glass and ceramics analyzed through their production process, the designers’ thinking and the skilled hands of craftsmen.  The project is now presenting the work of 6 Italian designers ( Antonio Aricò, Cristina Celestino, Giacomo Moda e Brunella Vallauri, Oliver Thomas Wall and Andrea Bouquet) all representing the excellence of Italian artisans, with their unique objects, imperfect in their uniqueness capable of transmitting through the tale of the matter and of the hands of those who created and manufactured them.  EDITAMATERIA becomes a collection point for Italian materials designed and created with skill, a network to establish synergies between niches in craftsmanship, designers and production processes in order to create new possibilities for the different actors involved each in his own way in the design planning, prototyping, development and final distribution of the design object.  There is a special bond that ties Editamateria to Israel, Rebecca Treves partner in Editamateria lives and works in Tel Aviv.  In 2014 the glass works of Antonio Aricò, as a part of The Editamateria Collection, were selected by Rossana Orlandi for Larte Restaurant in Milano.
